Still Waiting

We have an IEP date lined up and it happens in two weeks. I know from giving my permission and from my son he has had testing done. Yesturday he told me the Speech teacher told him to take off one of his hearing aids. He said he could hear her "sometimes" but not all the time.
Question: Should I call the school and demand to know what they are doing?
Answer/ Note to self: Wait untill the IEP.
I got a call from the Audiologists office and they told me they were working on an FM system for my son. HIP HIP Hurray.....

Progress

I have filled out all the necesarry "getting to know your child forms" and I am now waiting for the school to contact me for an appointment time for our IEP. For now I continue to wait.
I put my sons hearing aids on to get familiar with what my son hears or try to understand what he may hear with them on. I could hear my son chewing! Unbelievable! His little eyes got big and he said "Oh, mom wait till I turn on the faucet for you. The water is really loud." He turned on the faucet and sure enough, the water was loud.

Classroom Observation

I was in LE's classroom helping out for a Halloween party and I tried not to be obviously staring at him while his teacher read to the class. They were sitting on the floor directly in front of the teacher and LE was right at her feet. I noticed when the teacher was reading and the other kids laughed LE did not. MMM, what does this mean?

Batteries in the Hearing aids

This morning I changed the batteries in the hearing aids for my son and I could tell there was an instant difference. Yesturday he was talking really loud and I just knew the batteries had gone out on the hearing aids.
So for those of you new at this: They lasted for about two weeks. Check the batteries and change them STAT.

Requesting an FM system from the school

I am afraid of the fight or resistence I will face with the school district on my request of an FM system for my son who is only 6 years old and has a mild to moderate hearing loss. I am so new at this and hope someone can help prepare me for what lays ahead.
He was diagnosed four months ago and has only had his hearing aids for two weeks. I am learning from researching the FM system that he would benefit emensely.
I have spoken to the head of Special Ed and have been told an assessment will be done. Once my son has been tested a decision will be made as to whether or not he qualifies.
Does his hearing loss not qualify him? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
